This variety was first collected in the beautiful Southeast Asian country of Thailand, where it has been used for centuries. “Koh Samui’ is a tropical island where mycologist John Allen found the P. cubensis strain growing. Since that discovery in the 1990’s, the strain has been introduced to the west and popularized for its unique morphology and high chemical concentrations. Interestingly, locals consider this mushroom to be “portal from the ground to the mind and back to the warmth of the sea”.
